A Passion for Volunteering

As a young girl, Sherry Parker had a passion for helping the community. From her first days volunteering as a candy striper at St. Mary’s Hospital, she knew volunteering wasn’t something temporary.

 

“I've always loved volunteering,” Parker said. “I was on the PTA or PTSO from the time my son was in kindergarten through 12th grade, and I'm still volunteering for one of the high schools that he went to even today.” 

 

This passion for volunteering and supporting schools made volunteering with Start 1 Spark a natural fit. Since discovering Start 1 Spark, Parker has volunteered at the 2nd Annual Zoomie Car Show, organized and prepared a music room for returning students, and assembled snack kits with colleagues.

 

“Start 1 One Spark is a fantastic organization to help kids to further do things," Parker said. “To find out if they enjoy those different curricular activities that they're doing.” 

 

Parker is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others. Volunteering is a way of life for Parker and she is more than ready to participate in future volunteer opportunities at Start 1 Spark. 

 

“Whenever the next project comes up, I'm there to help,” she said and we can’t wait to see her there.
