Volunteer Spotlight

As a young student, Bri Stevens loved performing in theatre. This passion inspired her to focus on Media Production as a Mass Communications major at Virginia Commonwealth University. When the opportunity to build her skills creating an end-of-year video presented itself, Bri jumped at the chance to volunteer for Start 1 Spark.
As a media enthusiast, Bri loves to write and direct short films. Her volunteer work allowed her to further develop her skills and gain experience with event videography. Practicing with her camera in both indoor and outdoor spaces and various lighting gave her a new understanding of how to capture live action in different settings.
Attending Start 1 Spark’s community events this year was Bri’s favorite part of volunteering. She had the opportunity to engage with volunteers, students, and staff and learn their stories. “Volunteering is important to me because I love helping and talking to people in the Richmond area's community,” said Bri.
Thanks to Bri, you can watch how volunteers and students shine when given the opportunity to engage with each other. Bri shows how volunteering can keep the spark alive for volunteers and students alike!
